Growing up as a young Black person in the Netherlands can sometimes feel like you’re standing alone. Maybe you’re one of the few Black students in your class. Maybe people don’t always understand your culture, your hair, your music, or your jokes. But here’s the thing: you’re not alone at all. There is a whole community of young Black people across the country who share similar experiences, dreams, and struggles. And that community is powerful. Supporting Each Other When we support each other, amazing things happen. We inspire each other. We motivate each other. We remind each other that our identity is something to be proud of. A simple “you got this,” a shared laugh, or even just seeing another Black person winning can make your whole day. That connection matters. Representation Matters Seeing people who look like you succeed—whether it’s in sports, business, music, school, or anything else—proves that you can succeed too. Representation doesn’t just make us feel seen, it opens doors. Building Strong Foundations Community gives us strength. It helps us understand our culture, share our experiences, and grow our confidence together. That’s why True Confidence exists: to bring people together and build something real.
