Being Seen, Being Heard It’s no secret that sometimes we don’t always see people who look like us in certain spaces—whether it’s school, work, or even in the media. This can make you wonder: Do I really belong here? The truth is: yes, you do. Your presence matters. Your voice matters. And the more you speak up, show your talent, and take your space, the more you inspire others to do the same. Balancing Culture and Identity Many young Black people in the Netherlands grow up between cultures. At home, the culture might be warm, loud, funny, and full of history. Outside, things can be more direct, calm, and structured. Instead of choosing one side, it’s okay to embrace both. Your identity doesn’t have to fit into one box.
